A sweet, tomato-free barbecue sauce.
Makes about 6oz.
- 4 fl oz water
- 1 stock cube (beef or chicken)
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- 2oz dark brown sugar
- 1 tbsp mushroom ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 drops Tabasco
- Stir stock into water. Bring to the boil.
- Add sugar and onion and stir. Add the rest of the ingredients and
boil for a minute.
- Turn the heat down low, and simmer, stirring occasionally for
10mins or until thickened.
